^Allanon shows everyone a secret passage on the southern end of the keep. There they enter into
^the castle. After moving a bit through the corridors, Allanon explains their location.

^ALLANON: "We are directly below the castle proper. If we can reach the room where the
^Sword of Shannara rests without being seen, then we may be able to escape without a fight."
^BALINOR: "Something is wrong. Where's the the guards?"
^*Allanon shakes his head in a negative way, and the rest notice the concern in his eyes.
^Something definetly is wrong*
^ALLANON: "The central passage we will take runs to the main heating ducts and a back
^stairway that leads to the central hall. Say nothing more until we are there, but keep your eyes
^open!"

^ALLANON: "Get away while you can, hateful one! You frighten no one here. We will take the

^*The creature hisses in fury, eyes blazing with new hatred.*
^SKULL BEARER: "I will destroy you, Allanon. Then no one will be left to oppose the Master!

^Druid- the last heir of Shannara!"
^*To the shock of everyone, the clawlike hand points to an astonished Flick. The creature did not
^realized what had actually happened to Shea...*

^'Slowly the survivors of the quest filed into the stone chamber, smiles on their faces, their
^wounds forgotten. In the exact center of the rounded chamber, set in the polished surface of the
^giant Tre-Stone, they beheld the legendary Sword of Shannara, blade downward like a gleaming
^cross of silver and gold. At last, after all their effort, the endless marches, the miserable days and
^nights, there before them stood the ancient talisman they had risked everything to find. Allanon
^was missing, and Shea was lost as well. But the Sword of Shannara was theirs. They had
^outwitted the Warlock Lord. "Where is Flick?" the elf asked suddenly. For the first time they
^realized that he was missing. They glanced about the chamber, looking blankly at one another for
^explanation. Then Menion Leah, who had turned back to the gleaming Sword, watched the
^impossible happen. The great block of Tre-Stone and its precious display began to shimmer and
^dissolve before  his astonished eyes. It took only seconds for the entire image to fade into
^smoke, and at last into the air itself, until the men stood alone in an empty room, staring into
^space. "A trap! The third trap!" roared Menion, recovering from the initial shock. But behind
^him, he could already hear the huge rock slab swing shut on their inescapable prison, creaking
^and groaning sharply as the rusted hinges gave way under the mostrous weight of the stone. The
^faint but unmistakable sound of muffled laughter echoed brokenly off the chill walls in long peals,
^mocking their foolishness and their bitter, inevitable defeat.'

^The Master watches everything that befalls the keep. He sees the battle between his emissary
^and Druid falling into the furnace, sees the rest of the company cut through the worthless
^gnomes, and watches them enter the room. He enjoys his mastery over the situation and toys
^with them before springing the trap. His two winged servants sense the chilling laugh that rolled
^through his substanceless frame into the cavern air. Without turning to face themm, the Warlock
^Lord gestures abruptly toward the open wall facing north, and the Skull Bearers move off
^without hesitation. They knew without asking what was expected of them. They would fly off to
^Paranor and destroy the captured son of Shannara, the sole heir to the hated Sword. With him
^gone, they would no longer have to fear a mystical power greater than their own. Eventine would
^attempt to intercept the Sword and fail. He would be captured- the last great leader of the free
^lands, the last hope for the races. With Eventine as a prisoner, Sword in his possesion, the last
^heir to Shannara died, and the most hated enemy of all, the Druid Allanon, destroyed in the fires
^of Paranor. The battle was over before it begun. There will be no defeat in the Third War of the
^Races. He has won.

^trapped and me dead, he will quickly turn his attention to the invasion of the Four Lands. If he
^can seize Callahorn, the rest of the Southland will fall without a struggle.
^MENION: "Then we're too late- we've lost!"
^ALLANON: "We have only been outmaneuvered, not defeated, Prince of Leah. The Warlock
^Lord rests easy in belief that he has won, that we are destroyed and are no longer a threat.
^Prehaps we can use this against him. We must not despair. Now come with to leave this place."

^Flick witnesses a spectacular battle between the Skull Bearer and the Druid. Magical flames
^burst out of the combatants' hands, intercepting in midair. If the Skull Bearer got close enough to
^Allanon to stirke him with its claws, the end would surely come. Eventually the Skull Bearer
^does get within reach. The two wrestle each other into a fire pit where they fall from view. Flick
^panics even more and takes off down the halls. Eventually a tall dark form comes up behind him
^and taps him on the shoulder. By some miracle, Allanon survived!
